Spring Fling Part Deux: White Out
The one benefit of recurring insomnia is that I have plenty of time to troll my favorite e-boutiques, including Ssense, Intermix and Net-a-Porter. During last night’s 5-hour bout, I managed to find several spring must-haves that made my heart race.
Single Sole Pump
I’ve been searching for the perfect white pump for the past several weeks and finally found my sole mate: this simple yet futuristic pair by McQ Alexander McQueen. What sold me on these beauties are the standout details, including the slashed heel collar (unbelievably edgy), pencil-thin patent heel and walkable ( at least in my world) 3.9″ height. Plus, they’ll work equally well with all of the pastel and neon-hued pieces I recently purchased from Aritzia. Available at Ssense.com
Laser Cut Leather
Perforated leather like this masterpiece was all over the SS13 catwalks of New York, London, Paris and Milan. And with good reason – it’s wearable, modern and just plain fun. Some of the more intricate laser cut pieces I’m planning to add to my wardrobe are from Iro – a cutting-edge (no pun intended) label from Paris.
This nearly weightless lamb skin moto jacket is so buttery soft it’s like your second skin. I know, I know… enough with all the white, but this IRO-sistible ensemble is so damn stunning I don’t think I can resist the urge. Available at Farfetch.com and Intermix.com in black.
By the way, it also comes in a more casual bomber style, but I’m partial to the Caelie version mentioned above.
Manela Wedge Booties by Iro
These edgy open toe leather booties are the epitome of chic. At first, I was sold on the black ones (too safe) but the brilliant white just feels, well… right. Plus, the perforated white (a.k.a. blanc) leather is way punchier. Nice mix of textures here too – a subtle strip of suede along the 3.5″ heel which softens the look. I also love the relaxed, slouchy fit around the ankle, making them that much more cool. After dousing mine with leather protector (an absolute must with anything white!), I’ll be sporting my Manela’s with shorts, pencil skirts and jeans … basically, anything goes with standout booties like these. Available at MadisonLosAngeles.com and Singer22.com. Visit iro.fr for more store locations.
Just because I’m 40 doesn’t mean I’ll be banishing mini skirts (or bikinis for that matter) from my wardrobe anytime soon. Personally, I think if you’ve got it, flaunt it, no matter your age. That’s why I’m investing in this luxe leather number from Love Leather, an edgy line I recently discovered at Intermix. I’m in “love” with the flattering A-line fit, light-as-a-feather lambskin leather and tiny perforations (a.k.a. anti stink holes). I plan on flaunting mine with a fitted white tank and pointy-toe pumps like the McQ pair above. Do we like?
I’ve been lusting after pretty much everything from R13 as of late. Have you noticed their killer denim, butt-flattering shorts (drooling over this silver coated masterpiece) and cutting-edge calf leather moto vests, including the find below? Score yours at Ssense.com. Happy shopping!
