Move over Madison Avenue, make way for Bleecker street – by far, the city’s chicest shopping strip. First came Marc Jacobs, then Cynthia Rowley, and now you can add Miguelina to the mix – a sleek, 900 square-foot shop filled with flirty ‘n feminine, resort-inspired frocks.

Miguelina Gambaccini, a self-taught designer launched her own label on a whim due to a lack of stylish clothes in her native Dominican Republic. Now based in Manhattan, this in-demand designer is adored for her signature blend of gauze tunics, silk camis with lace and flowing chiffon dresses, all available in a Caribbean-infused palette of turquoise, coral and canary yellow. While high-end retailers like Bergdorf’s and Fred Segal have been stocking the line since ’97, it wasn’t until this spring that Gambaccini set up a permanent home to showcase her entire collection.

Since jumping in on the Bleecker street bandwagon, fashionistas from everywhere have been going bonkers over Miguelina’s current collection, which includes stunning cropped coats, white linen eyelet skirts (our fave) and other exotic essentials. Gambaccini also scouts the globe for must-have accessories like metallic flat sandals, glitzy jewelry, over-sized handbags and luggage, all of which are available at the shop. For newlyweds, there’s a travel-friendly honeymoon line (everything’s lightweight and hand-washable) and Brazilian bikinis by Tara Matthews, one of the many co-branded items sold on a seasonal basis.

So the next time you’re headed on that getaway to Montauk or Mexico, make sure to put Miguelina on your packing list.
